Dear Time Traveler, I just figured out that I am 600 months old. For some reason, this number of months seems small. It has caused me to think a lot about time and how it moves in my life. So often, I feel that there’s “not enough” time for everything I need or want to do. Time appears to be as ephemeral as a snowflake in August, melting away in an instant. Why do I fill my time with these thoughts? I know that it’s a luxury to have this kind of time that I do, to even ask these questions. I frequently agree to more than I can possibly accomplish and don’t even recognize that I’ve filled my time to the absolute top. People close to me see it. If I ask a friend if it seems like I do a lot, the person starts shouting their answers: “Yes! I can’t believe how much you do!” I think of snails and turtles, which move at a microscopic pace. I don’t think less of a turtle for how much time it takes.

My brother Andrew is a master at doing less and often points out that I could easily just do less in any category, and I would still be doing plenty! It’s just that I see so much to do! I can’t be like a turtle, can I? |

There is a part of me that is very turtle-like, moving slowly with my hard little shell, tucking my head in and out, hibernating, and cheerfully eating lettuce. Why can’t I treat time more like a turtle does and takes as much time as it takes? What would happen if I stopped filling my time up to the top? I believe that time is a curious experiment, given to all of us to use as we wish. I intend to use mine more considerately. I intend to practice “turtle time” and take “as long as it takes” whenever possible. I’d like to transform the concepts of “spending time” and “saving time” and change them to “steering time” and “savoring time.” What if I steer my time towards “turtle time,” where I’m still moving, but whatever it is just takes longer. I just had an experience of trying to be a “swift turtle.” I had just returned from my writing retreat and returned to my business life and answered many emails, phone calls, and requests for appointments. By the next day, I got “sick” (I think that my body just got exhausted) which is my body’s way of being a turtle. I wish for all of us more experiences of “Turtle time!” Luscious moments in our days and nights, where we transform time and measure “progress” differently. I intend to more fully savor the next 600 months (or however many I have) of my life and treat time more kindly, with more trust and less scarcity. Your little turtle, Susan (a.k.a. SARK) |

This past month we’ve been busy
fixing and tweaking. Sometimes fixing things that needed improvement,
and sometimes breaking things that were working just fine before we messed
with them. That’s part of the process of web development.

Teena Jones Show presents
The Women's Showcase is the largest event for women in Central Minnesota. SARK will speak on how to make your creative dreams REAL. This year's theme is "Bringing Out the Best in You," featuring inspiring speakers and outstanding entertainment on five stages, information demonstrations and workshops, and a free sample food court and unique shopping among 200+ exhibits. SARK says: “I’m so excited to be the featured presenter. We’re going to rock the whole state of Minnesota and beyond at this conference.”
SARK says: “Come and play in Arizona at this scrumptious celebration. It is truly a celebration of life, and I will be presenting two new workshops about making creative dreams REAL.”
Our Transitions Learning Center Workshop on July 28 in Chicago was an absolute delight. I feel so blessed by every person who attended and participated. I know that lots of creative dreams really got moving! It was an honor to hear “MusicGirl” (Lisa) from the Marvelous Message Board sing, to eat scrumptious chocolate cake, and to spend time with Marvelous Message Board members.
